This year marks ten years of Precision Development: a decade of working with farmers, governments, and partners to use evidence and data to improve smallholder livelihoods at scale.
Since 2016, PxD has grown from early trials of digital agricultural advisory with a few thousand farmers into a global organization scaling evidence-based innovations to tens of millions of farmers across Africa and Asia. We’ve shown that a well-designed digital agricultural service can generate $12–19 in additional farmer income for every dollar invested, with impact concentrated amongst the most vulnerable farmers.
Central to our approach is a commitment to iterative learning. Our newly released Experiment Registry documents over 80 trials we conducted over the years, with two core insights: digital advisory services consistently deliver value to farmers, and testing design improvements rigorously increases farmer impact. The biggest gains came from removing practical barriers: confusing menus, language mismatches, and making services easier to use.

The challenges facing smallholder farmer communities are urgent, and we remain committed to scaling solutions that actually work for farmers.
This anniversary offers a moment to reflect on the collaboration, trust, and shared ambition that have made this work possible. We look forward to sharing reflections and lessons learned from the last decade as part of PxD@10 – stay tuned!
